Job Description: Accounting Specialist (Part-time)
Background: Libertas is a public charter school serving the Frayser neighborhood in Memphis. Our mission is to be a school for human flourishing: cultivating minds, hands, and hearts for lives of wonder, work, and love. We offer a rich, rigorous, and personalized liberal arts education through the method of Dr. Maria Montessori, with an attachment village of wraparound family supports. The state has named Libertas a Tennessee Reward School - one of the top 15% of public schools. We currently serve infant and toddler, early childhood and elementary at our founding location and a new middle school on a second nearby campus. Role information
- Key function: Support the school’s finance and operations by processing invoices and payments, assisting with bookkeeping, and supporting billing and receivables through the Family payment system.
- Start date: Spring 2025 (exact start date is flexible)
- Schedule and location: Part-time (25-30 hours), year-round (~46 weeks). Schedule is negotiable. Hybrid or fully remote.
- Compensation: $18-23 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
- Reports to: Finance Director
- Other key relationships: Operations Team, Family Engagement Team
Measures of success: stakeholder satisfaction (staff, families, vendors), timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments, compliance with all relevant policies, documentation, and procedures, satisfactory performance evaluations
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and process invoices and ensure proper documentation (e.g. W-9)
- Code transactions in payable system, ensure approval, and process payment
- Assist with bookkeeping tasks in Quickbooks Online, including reconciliations, report generation, and coding of bank transactions
- Support family payment processing for uniforms, extended day programs, and field trips (via RevTrak)
- Other duties as assigned, such as assisting with bank deposits (if hybrid)

- Experience in Quickbooks Online and Bill.com software (strongly preferred)
