Background: Libertas is a public charter school serving the Frayser neighborhood in Memphis. Our mission is to be a school for human flourishing: cultivating minds, hands, and hearts for lives of wonder, work, and love. We offer a rich, rigorous, and personalized liberal arts education through the method of Dr. Maria Montessori, with an attachment village of wraparound family supports. We currently serve birth through 6th grade; operate a nationally-accredited, state-licensed teacher training program; and are preparing to expand through 8th grade on a new middle school campus. Role summary: This newly created full-time role is responsible for planning and executing family events; organizing and deploying volunteers and community partners; connecting families to needed resources; and providing family resources and supporting compliance for our PreK program. This is an immediate opening.
Role information
- Full-time role. Generally follows the school calendar, plus two weeks of work in the summer related to preparation for the upcoming school year. (Additional summer work beyond these two weeks may be flexibly scheduled based on school needs and employee interest and will be compensated separately.)
- Work days follow the published school calendar; work hours are generally 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM except Wednesdays 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM for faculty meetings. However, this role will frequently help organize events outside normal hours.

Measures of successes
- Successful and well-attended school and family events
- Number of volunteers and volunteer hours
- 100% completion of assigned developmental assessments, required screenings, required service referrals, and PreK family partnership process with accurate and timely data submissions
- 90% overall family engagement; increased involvement of under-involved families
- Satisfactory performance evaluations
- Other indicators
Key responsibilities
School and Family Events
- Plan and execute regular family events as directed by the Family Engagement Manager in response to the needs and goals of our families, including events that are specifically focused on PreK families.
- Plan and execute school-wide events including Back-to-School Night; Mid-Year and End-of-Year Poetry Celebrations; Fifth Grade Stepping Up Ceremony; and a Black History Month Program.
- Share event information with the Communications Coordinator to ensure effective promotion and communication of event details.
Volunteers and Community Partnerships
- Coordinate with one-time and regular volunteers and community partners to create a schedule of volunteers to support our school.
- With input from school leaders about projects and priorities, organize and deploy the work of volunteers and community partners to support our school and the work of the Family Engagement team.
PreK Program Support
- With support from other team members, schedule and administer Fall and Spring developmental assessments (Brigance) for PreK children.
- Meet three times per year with PreK families to establish and monitor family goals.
- Maintain PreK compliance records.
Family Support
- Refer and connect families to wraparound services and supports as appropriate, and document all referrals (with a focus on offering referrals in response to family needs and goals as expressed in the PreK family meetings).

Qualifications and traits
- Successful work experience in a school setting or non-profit or community-based organization in a similar community is strongly preferred.
- Highly organized with demonstrated project management experience. Able to create, execute, and refine a plan of action based on a clear vision and goals.
- Flexible, takes initiative, generates a variety of ideas and solutions, and thinks strategically.
- Warm and firm demeanor.
- Effective communication, including listening, writing, and speaking.
- Ability to multitask while staying organized and attentive to detail.

Compensation
- Salary/wage: $40,000- $45,000 based on qualifications and experience
- Eligible for increases, bonuses, or stipends for performance or additional duties.
- Investment in faculty professional development and growth. We also offer to eligible applicants our Teacher Residency program, which provides financial sponsorship and additional coaching and support to achieve state licensure and/or Montessori certification. Please contact us for more details.
